Letters to the EditorEditor,

Being a member of the genderblend-ing sex positive tuffgirl kinky queer sex majik ritual performance company, THE PSYCICK SLUTZ, I was excited to see that Pulse was publishing an article on strip clubs. What a total disappoint-ment to hear nothing new, thoughtful, insightful, or interesting in the entire piece. Is this really the best you could do? Excuse me for expecting some-thing worth my time from the Pulse, but this boring piece of sexist drivel is an insult to sex workers everywhere. Sorry to break it to you, Tim Neuenschwander, but you should NOT do this work more often” and your (alleged) article does not pass “as a night of work.” What exactly is the point of your story? That you are a hypocritical pig? That female Basilica Block Party goers are worth ogling on the street? Your lack of insight reflects a lack of thought on the many complex issues surrounding the sex industry. What a waste of a good opportunity.

Your reference to women’s bodies as “goods,” “stuff” and “tacos” is demean-ing, condescending, and really not very funny. Your repeated contradictions concerning wanting attention from women but being annoyed with dancers doing their jobs (IE: offering lap dances) makes no sense. What the hell did you go there for? If you feel that you have to “practically beat the women back” perhaps these dancers are not paid well (which could have been an the subject for an interesting article) or perhaps you should go home and watch a video to hype up your hor-mones (but please don’t write about it). Or perhaps I should starting beating up men that ogle me on the street and don’t easily take no for an answer.

“No Sex & The City” (volume 6,number 15) is the creepiest piece of writing I have ever read in the Pulse. Oh sure, I often feel sick reading about police brutality and Palestinian genocide, but this writing is beyond even those levels of disturbing because of its complete lack of substance.

For anyone interested in an original, creative look at the sex industry and the history of prostitution, I would urge you to go see the Psycick Slutz Fringe Festival show “The ONCE & FUTURE WHORE” playing Aug.3-11 @ Intermedia Arts. For more info e-mail us at psycickslutz@hotmail.com or check out the Fringe Festival Web site. In this ritual to heal the split of sex and spirit, we offer a multidimensional look at whoredom that is truly sexy, entertaining AND thoughtful. Check it out Tim, you might actually learn some-thing.
