The Black Dog inspires creativity -- its high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious tables encourage daydreaming, journaling, doodling and other precursors to art making.

RE: Letter from Palestine 11.05.03
Wednesday 03 December @ 14:16:10
Letters to the EditorWhat I find most upsetting when reading Flo’s Letters from Palestine is that she seems to favor the destruction of the State of Israel. What does she think would happen to the millions of Israelis in that case? The precedent of the 650,000 refugees driven out of Arab Middle Eastern nations since 1948 is not encouraging.

To resolve any problem, compromise is necessary. As in any other case, in the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, neither side will get everything they want. But I believe that most Israelis and most Palestinians would like to see a peaceful two-state solution to this problem. If that is the case, then peace is possible.

Flo’s anti-Israeli rage only discourages peaceful settlement, and encourages killing. Does she favor a two-state solution at all? And if not, how would she like to see the situation resolved?

I would remind her that Israel, once a nation of refugees, was created by the United Nations, and is a legitimate state like any other. I would also remind her that in its short history, Israel has made peace with both of its neighbors that extended a hand.

Israel has also withdrawn from Lebanon, as has been certified by the United Nations. It is Lebanon that has refused to abide by the U.N. and take control of its border region away from Hezbollah.
