Peak oil...Bringing home the troops
Thursday 26 August @ 16:57:16
Letters to the EditorElectric cars are the answer to the oil problem

In the recent article by Brian Kaller, he misses the most important concept. The burning of fossil fuels is polluting the world’s atmosphere to the extent that there is more loss of plant, animal and human life. The answer is to go to electric vehicles, which are battery-powered, and the batteries charged by tapping the vast energy of space.

Space energy (aka Zero-point energy) is unlimited and can be tapped by several of the new-energy devices. Several million dollars are being placed in a non-profit organization to provide grants for the commercialization of new-energy devices. By “new energy,” we exclude alternative energy devices with energy sources from sun, wind, tides, geothermal or biomass.

The commercialization of one or more of the patented (and patent pending) new energy devices will help lower the burning of fossil fuels and help to restore the atmosphere to a more healthy condition. This change is necessary to preserve life on this world.

Our young men and women are needed here at home

Withdrawing and relocating some of our troops will be too little, too late and will take too long. Nobody appointed us policemen of the world and our costly, ugly and arrogant military ubiquity is resented by friend and foe. It is one of the reasons we are victims of terrorism. Our military presence in The Mideast and especially in Saudi Arabia to protect our oil supply and the Saudi monarchy was one of Bin Ladin's main grievances.

Importing gluttonous amounts of oil and squandering it the way we do is not only causing deadly amounts of pollution, a cancer pandemic and greenhouse gasses, its giving us record trade deficits. Much of this could be eliminated with a painless conservation program, but this administration is determined to lead us to the gates of hell.

Disasters in this country from forest fires to more frequent and intense hurricanes will surely be part of our future thanks to accelerating global warming. Our military men and women will be needed here not on the other side of the world. This is not the fifties. The Russians are not going to attack Europe and who is going to attack Japan? Can't one of the richest and most technologically advanced countries in the world defend itself by now?

Our ground troops in South Korea will be nothing more than kindling if we anger the desperate and destitute North Koreans more than we have already. Come home America. Come home and make the world a little safer and our country more secure. It is time to spread love and not war. "It is a time to heal, a time to embrace and a time for peace."

Sincerely,

Don Johnson
