Longtime veteran can take no more of Bush As a 21-year military veteran who served during Vietnam and the first Gulf War,
I’m appalled by President Bush’s continuing lack of substance in the
2nd presidential debate.
John Kerry, who showed up for duty with honor and diligence, will not squander
soldiers’ lives. The real “wishy-washy” candidate is Mr. Bush,
who wastes the lives of our sons and daughters while staunchly upholding the death
penalty, even as the evidence proves conclusively that innocent men and women
are still being executed, especially in Mr. Bush’s home state of Texas.
Kerry will roll back the environmental train wreck caused by our current administration,
and if we’re lucky, our grandchildren will get to breathe clean air and
bear their own children free of birth defects caused by lead, mercury, and petroleum
pollution.

Teen urges those who can vote to oust Bush
President Bush has a plan for education that he likes to call “No Child
Left Behind.”
What a misnomer.
You adults may not see just how many of us kids are getting left behind every
day. When you raise our standards and cut our funding at the same time we are
left behind. When our class sizes are increased we fade into the background,
fall behind and are left behind.
We can’t vote. You can.

Soldiers are being sent for wrong reasons.
Don’t kill for me, soldier boy.
The jingoes, right-wing hawks, false patriots and old soldier boys are
selling our country down the military rat hole. Some are profiteers, others are
the deceived cheerleaders of this illegal, immoral, costly, bloody and unnecessary
war. Others are the ultimate tools of the multinational corporate war mongers.
Be all that you can be soldier boy. Lay down your life for the likes of Exxon
and Enron. Lay down your life for Texaco and the Bush family. Lay down
your lives for the CEOs who make 600 times more money than you do.
Once we were a respected nation and champion of freedom and democracy.
Now we are a nationalistic, neo-nazi corporate capitalist plutocracy, destroying
innocent lives, earth, future and our national treasure, losing all respect
we once had from our friends and allies around the world.
Wanton oil gluttons and squanderers of the earth’s diminishing resources,
we continue to consume at an accelerated rate, driving ever bigger monster
vehicles, driving up world energy prices and mindless of what we are doing
to our air, earth, water, mind, body and soul.
God help us and lead us from this path of death, decay and destruction. Guide
us to the path of love, life and enlightenment.

About to be deployed and wanting a third voice
The two candidates both support the troops overseas who are there to support
democracy. It is tragically ironic because they exlude all third parties from
debating. Most of the public want more viewpoints in our fledgling democracy.
I am being deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom for 18 months with the National
Guard.
How am I to look up to my leaders when they are hypocrites?

Thank you, Michael Moore, for inspiring us
We basked, we roared, we delighted, we mobilized, in your rather large shadow
Friday Night at Williams Arena.
You cajoled us out of our stupid reverie that mumbles, "Isn't it possible
that John Kerry isn't a winner? Isn't he a little too bland? Isn't he being
a little vague? Shouldn't he be acting much more ahhhhh....presidential?"
So you sat with us in our cozy living room with 6000 friends and watched while
our presidential President lied, scowled, defended, distracted, avoided and
whined in debate with his opponent, John Kerry.
You were our outspoken, outrageous, Dad who jumps out of his armchair, stomps
around our TV, screaming, "He lies, he lies, he lies, another lie!"
and then you threw in another $100 —eventually $2,000—for every
lie, distraction, smirk, or evasion our "presidential" President spoke
in his sorry defense.
You and Scott Cooper of MAPA invited us to show our informational film, “ForeSight20/20”
(http://www.actionelection.org), just before you gave us your best Dad lecture and
rousing political lesson.
Seven volunteers, including one fantastic director put together this film made
in your shadow, to detail the opinions of Minnesotans about the issues in this
election. It's circulating all over the state with discussion guide attached
for group showings.
After four hours of Dad lecture you sent us off, as every good Dad would,
"NOW, GO OUT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!"
