Hello, Goodbye

It's been a wonderful 10 years. Thank you all very much. Thanks to you, the readers, for picking us up and telling us off once in a while, and thanks very much to the advertisers who have supported this independent and locally grown voice.
From the beginning, we saw ourselves as different from most other newspapers. We made no claim to objective truth. We believed every story is written from a point of view, and anyone who said they were objective and "fair and balanced" was simply supporting the status quo. We tried always to be honest about our point of view, but we were unabashed and unashamed cheerleaders for the antiwar movement and progressive politics. We also did our best to support lesser known local musicians and alternative art and theater.
I, personally, am grateful for the opportunity I've had to shout out my views that the CIA is the biggest drug dealer in the world and that the Bush family through their financial interests in Halliburton is directly profiting from the Iraq War.
It's been a good run, but we've been running on empty for some time now, and it's time to disconnect the life supports.
Phil Willkie joined us about a year and a half ago, and because of his generous support we've been able to limp along well past our expected life cycle. We will always be grateful.
We will publish two more issues of our print edition of Pulse of the Twin Cities. The one next week will be on a trip that Don Irish, Rosita Balch, Mary Ellen Halverson and I took to tour the School of Americas at Fort Benning, Ga., last week. We went inside. We went in their face. It will be a good read.
In a couple of weeks, when we cease print publication, we will become a daily e-mail newspaper. We will provide news and our take on local, state and national politics. We'll also chronicle music and cultural events in the Twin Cities.
Currently, our website gets about 2.2 million hits a month and over 220,000 unique visitors. We're hoping to expand that audience. If you'd like to get Pulse delivered daily to your e-mail address just register at our website: http://www.pulsetc.com
So, it's not really just "Hello, Good-bye," it's "Hello, Good-bye, Hello Again!"
See you in virtual reality. ||
