publishes 23,000 copies every Wednesday and distributes them to over 400 locations in downtown Minneapolis, Uptown, South Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota (East and West Banks), from Anoka in the north to Chanassen and Shakopee in the south; from Minnetonka in the west to Stillwater in the east. According to industry standers we are read by over 55,000 people.

 

Who reads pulse of the twin cities?
We surveyed 10,000 readers and here's what we found:
People of all ages read pulse!
Almost a third of our readers (32.8%) are 22 to 30 years old. 25% are 31 to 40 years old,
and almost a third (31.3%) are over 40.
They have money to spend.
The biggest group (44.3%) earn between $20-35,000 per year but almost a third (32.8%) earn more than $35,000 and of that group, 14.8% earn more than $50,000.
They're smart.
36.6% have a bachelor's degree. 32.4% have some college and 18.5% have an advanced degree.
They go to the movies.
59% go once a month and another 26.8% go once a week. A fanatical few (5.3%)
go twice a week.
They like to eat out.
37% eat out once a week, 21.5% twice a week, 17% three times a week, 10.4% four times a week and 11% five or more times a week.
They ain't afraid of highbrow stuff!
34.3% go to the theatre or symphony or opera once every six months.
Another 16% go once a month and another 19.7% go once a week.
They like to go to clubs to hear music.
27% go out once a week and 14% go more than twice a week. 22% go once a month and only 19% do not go out to hear music in clubs on a regular basis.
They like to hear live music concerts.
35.8% will go to a live concert twice a year, 21.2% will go once a month and 8% go
once a week.
They buy CDs.
13.7% buy music twice a week, 23.6% once a week, 39% once a month.

 

Who is our typical reader?
He is a single male, 22 or older, making around $35,000 a year, a college graduate who goes to the movies at least once a month and to the theater or a symphony or an opera once every six months. He eats out at least twice a week, and he goes to clubs to hear music at least once a month. He will go to a concert at least once every six months, and he buys CDs, records or tapes more than once a month.
